Prokaryotic Gene Regulation! Biology Help!!?

Substrate A can be cleaved by B-galactosidase to yield glucose and DL. DL will turn bacteria blue and cannot bind the LacI repressor protein. You find a colony of mutant E. coli which are blue in the presence of substrate A regardless of whether lactose is present or not. How has the mutation affected the lac operon to give this result?
