Doesn't it appear from that statement as if she has an attitude?

I knew this girl for some years, we were very good friend, she needed someone to do the cleaning for her and her uncle as a maid(helper) now i'm 53, she is 23, since i wasn't working i offered to do the job. This is my second month, She told me yesterday "remember to sweep off the back patio" So today i went to work at her house, i told her off (in her house )infront of everyone. Because isn't that comment demanding and giving command? Couldn't she take a broom and sweep it off herself, it seems as if she has an attitude? I think that comment translate to i'm dirt. Now she is crying. Well she shouldn't have made that to me. Also the other morning i came to work, i didnt see her at all for the morning until she popped her head out just before i left for lunch, which i think she is trying to avoid me.
