Where to buy a ticket at penn station ? & how to get from penn station to upstate middletown?

Please My name is Anthony 19 My mothers birthday is coming up i would like to surprise her by going to see her in middletown .but i know i have to through penn station but i dont know where to buy the ticktet over there ? and i dont know which train to take ? does anymody kno pls help and thanks
